Details & Itinerary

14-DAYS/13-NIGHTS; DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - ARRIVE YANGON (L)

Yangon Airport to Yangon city centre (20 km): 30 – 60 mins.

Upon arrival, meet withZawgyi Guideand head to the hotel for check-in and a chance to freshen up. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is a relatively quiet and charming city. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating cities in Southeast Asia.

After lunch, meet with the guide and head to Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. A visit to Kyaukhtatgyi provides a great introduction to Myanmar’s unique brand of Buddhism, with murals depicting the life of Buddha, the feet of the statue carved with traditional symbols and a great many locals gather here to pray.

Continue to a local tea shop for a chance to experience an integral part of Burmese life: drinking tea! Select from an array of snacks and enjoy a coffee or tea as while sitting amongst businessmen, friends and families who gather at the tea shop to socialize or conduct business.

Next, follow the guided tour to Kandawgyi Park, one of central Yangon’s greenest spots. Here, witness the glittering Karaweik Barge, a replica of the Royal Barge, and the vast lake with views of Shwedagon Pagoda in the background. Depending on the day, Kandawgyi may be busy with local families who come on the weekends to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

From here, continue to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the locals believe that the original structure was built 2500 years ago and was then renovated several times before taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99-meters tall, gilded with gold leaf, and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas. Follow the guide’s lead around the massive complex and learn why this temple is so revered among locals.

DAY 2 - YANGON - GOLFING (B)

Punhlaing Golf Club

Transfer to Punhlaing Golf Club, Myanmar’s greatest golf course. This 18-hole course is well maintained, and its greens are among the best in Myanmar. Golfing at the Pun Hlaing.

Return to your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 3 - YANGON - BAGAN SIGHTSEEING (B, L, D)

Depart from Yangon with earliest flight to Nyaung-U Airport with Air KBZ.

The private driver and local tour guide of Zawgyi Travel will pick up you at the airport and set off on a full day of exploration in Bagan. This program includes a range of sites, providing a great overview of Bagan’s unique history, culture and local lifestyles.
The journey begins with a visit to Thagyar Pone Temple, a temple with spectacular views over the surrounding plains. This is the perfect introduction to the grandeur and scope of Bagan’s architecture. Next, continue to Ananda Temple, one of the most venerated temples in Bagan, enjoy it in the quiet of morning before all the tour buses arrive.
Afterwards, we head to Myinkaba Village and visit Gubyaukgyi Temple, noted for the beautiful mural paintings on its inner walls and well-preserved plaster carvings on its exterior. Nearby is Manuha Temple and Nan Paya Temple, two smaller temples with nice Buddha statues and stone work that we will check out.
Then, learn more about local culture with a visit to two workshops producing Bagan’s most famous products: lacquerware and woodcrafts. Watch as the skilled craftsmen use techniques passed down through generations to create beautiful handicrafts.
Take a break with lunch at a local restaurant and then return to the hotel for a short rest and escape the extreme heat of the midday sun.
Later in the afternoon, take a relaxing horse cart ride through the temple area, winding along tiny roads past dozens of monuments. Stop at will to take photos or explore temples. Continue to an elevated viewpoint to watch an unforgettable sunset over the plains before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Bagan.

DAY 4 - BAGAN - GOLFING (B)

After breakfast at hotel, drive to Bagan Golf Club, a calm area near to 11th century ruins and the Ayeyarwaddy river extending out beyond. The 18-hole Bagan golf resort is nestled among the historic pagodas.
Return to Bagan. If you have time, see the sunset from one of the pagodas in Bagan. Overnight.

DAY 5 - MANDALAY SIGHTSEEING (B)

Today, we will travel by land from Bagan to Mandalay. having a life expectancy of 140 years old. Our local guide will greet you at the airport and accompany you to the hotel.
Immediately upon arrival, tour the old capital of Amarapura, including a visit to the temple and little pagodas of the former ancient capitals of Amarapura.

The client may then stroll across the world’s longest teakwood U-Bein Bridge, which is almost a km long and entirely constructed of teak.
Mandalay city tour: Mahamuni Pagoda; century-old and renowned Arakan Buddha made of pure gold. It was the capital of Burma’s last sovereign kingdom, which was eventually overrun by British colonial forces in 1886.
Shwenandaw Monastery, also known as the Golden Palace Monastery. This monastery is well-known for its exquisite wood carvings, which are adorned with themes and fantastical animals.
Pagoda of Kuthodaw: It is a massive walled compound erected by King Mindon at the base of the southeast stairs to Mandalay Hill. In the creation of the Kuthodaw, King Mindon held the Fifth Buddhist Synod in 1872.

DAY 6 - MANDALAY - GOLFING (B)

Transfer to the Shwe Mann Taung Golf Club on Mandalay Hill. Their amenities include a restaurant and bar, a pro shop and a driving range. There is also a swimming pool. Back to the hotel after playing golf in Shwe Mann Taung. Overnight.

DAY 7 - MANDALAY - INLE SIGHTSEEING (B)

Our coach will meet you in the hotel lobby in the morning and transport you to Inle. Our local guide will greet you at the airport and accompany you to the hotel.

Drive to Nyaungshwe, the largest settlement on Inle Lake and the historic capital of the local Shan monarchs. The lake is 1328 metres above sea level. Inle is one of Shan State’s most popular tourist destinations.Transfer to the hotel via boat.
Visit the magnificent Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, which has five holy Buddha pictures, floating villages with gardens, Nge Phe Chaung monastery, which houses Buddha images, and so on. Traditional handicrafts, silk weaving on wooden handlooms, and a blacksmith business are on display. Overnight.

 

DAY 8 - TAUNGGYI - GOLFING (B,)

Transfer to the jetty and then to Nyaung Shwe via boat. Drive 45 minutes to Taunggyi, stopping along the way to visit the Ayetharyar winery and the Aye Tharyar Golf Club, which is perfectly situated amidst the Shan Plateau. It was founded in 1995. This course has a par of 72 with 7380 yards of excellent cut Bhamuda grass and very huge greens.

DAY 9 - INDEIN SIGHTSEEING - YANGON (B)

This morning the sightseeing begins at 08:00 with a visit to theAfter breakfast, visit the  lake’s morning market. The market rotates its location around the lake’s villages in a 5-day rhythm and is visited by lake inhabitants and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their wares. (Note: market is daily except on dark-moon day and full-moon days).

Then, continue to the western banks of the lake and travel down a small canal to Indein. Indein is a Pa-Oh village known for its stupa-covered hill at Alaung Sitthou. Spend time exploring Indein on foot, and head to the top of Alaung Sitthou. Here, wander around the weather-beaten stupas and enjoy magnificent views of the lake below.

This afternoon, transfer to Heho Airport for the flight to Yangon. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

DAY 10 - YANGON - NGAPALI BEACH LEISURE (B, L, D)

We will transfer from Yangon International Airport to Thandwe Airport (Ngapali Beach) after breakfast. Transfer will meet you at the airport and transport you to the hotel.

We planned a farewell dinner at the hotel and enjoyed the bonfire event. Overnight in Ngapali.

DAY 13 - NGAPALI BEACH - YANGON (B)

Transfer to Thandwe Airport this afternoon for your trip to Yangon. Transfer to the hotel for a good night’s rest upon arrival.

DAY 14 - DEPART YANGON (B)

Depending on flight time, there may be time to embark on a half-day tour. These unique ‘insider’ tours offer something for everyone (note: supplemental charge will be applied)

Blessings Trail: Discover the rich mixture of cultures and religions in Yangon with this half-day walking tour. Visit Hindu Temples, synagogues, churches and mosques as well as unique Burmese spiritual places including nat shrines and fortune tellers. Along the way, we’ll explore markets, tea shops and other lively local sites in the busy downtown area.

Yangon for Foodies: Get a taste for Burmese food and culture with a half-day guided ‘Yangon for Foodies’ tour. Visit some of the city’s best fresh markets, sample tasty treats, sip a cuppa with locals in a tea shop and enjoy a traditional curry lunch. From the sweet (fried donuts) to the strange (fermented tea leaf salad), try all the strange and wonderful Burmese foodstuffs that make Myanmar such a unique place. (Lunch included)

Pilgrimage Tour: Trace the path of a Yangon legend that stretches back 2,000 years on a guided Pilgrimage Tour. Visit three stupas where, many years ago, sacred Buddha relics, brought from India, were enshrined by two merchant brothers. Join local pilgrims on this fascinating spiritual journey. (Note: although this program visits Shwedagon Pagoda again, the visit is in the morning when the activities and atmosphere is very different)

Art Gallery Tour: Explore traditional and modern Burmese art with a guided tour of Yangon’s art scene. Visit a selection of local galleries displaying paintings, sculptures and photographs from famous art pioneers and emerging young artists.
