Continue travelling to the downtown to explore architectures of the colonial buildings in this historic former capital city. Specifically, the tour guide will explain the history of each structure and what they were used for. Feel free to request to stop any time you want to enjoy the particular teas at the local tea houses. Your next destination will be the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. Immerse in the shimmering landscape of Shwedagon pagoda which is a magnificent golden pagoda on the top of Singuttara hill. It is said that this pagoda dated back from 2500 years ago and stored the hair relics of the Buddha. Today it becomes one of the most spectacular religious architecture in the world as well as a pride of Myanmar. In the late afternoon, we will transfer back your hotel
DAY 2: YANGON – KYAIKHTIYO – GOLDEN ROCK (B/L)
At 08.30AM, the Golden Rock tour begins when you see the tour guide at your hotel in the morning. After that, a 5-hour driving will lead you from Yangon to Kyaiktiyo via Burmese countryside filled up with green rice paddy fields. The most delightful of this day is the Golden Rock in Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (or Golden Rock Pagoda), en route. Arriving at the base camp of Kin Pun, we continue joining the public truck driving on the path to the famous Golden Rock, a familiar image in any Myanmar travel guide. Then enjoy a light trek to the summit to be overwhelmed by the charming sunset.
NOTE: The local trucks from Kinpun camp to the top will be very crowded and uncomfortable. Locals are also known to tag along. The trucks won’t leave until they are stocked with passengers; we kindly ask for your patience. Please note that you need to reach Kinpun at 5.30 PM at the latest to be sure to get a truck to the top.
Being particular by precarious position, the famous Golden Rock covered by gold leaf is an important site of Buddhist pilgrimage as well as an important symbol of Myanmar culture and religion. You can ask your experienced guide to understand more about origin of this site. If lucky, you can see the traditional activities of pilgrimage season here. Explore about the pagoda and then drive back to guesthouse for overnight and finish the today’s journey from Yangon to Golden Rock here.
DAY 3: KYAIKHTIYO – BAGO – YANGON (B)
In the morning, follow the route to Bago via rice fields and small towns and then we will arrive at this former Mon Kingdom, which was founded in 15th century. Arriving in Bago, we begin the exploration to some highlights of Bago like Buddha’s teachings with the monks of Kyakhatwaing first. Then we continue the visit to the well-known Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the highest pagoda in Myanmar. After that, we should not miss the chance to visit the historic palace site of Kanbawzathadi Palace before discovering Shwethalyaung Reclining Buddha. Following a short rest is a nice visit to Kyaikpun Pagoda, the home of 4 huge Buddha Images facing the cardinal points. Learn about pottery produce at a Pottery Workshop. They are what will make your Yangon travel become more interesting. On the way drive back to Yangon, we will take time visiting Taukkyan War Cemetery, which is now rest place for allied soldiers from the British Commonwealth who died in battle in Myanmar during Second World War. Round off the day with the last route back to your hotel in Yangon.
