7-DAYS/8-NIGHTS; DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - ARRIVE YANGON (L)

Yangon Airport to Yangon city centre (20 km): 30 – 60 mins.

Upon arrival, meet withZawgyi Guideand head to the hotel for check-in and a chance to freshen up. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is a relatively quiet and charming city. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating cities in Southeast Asia.

After lunch, meet with the guide and head to Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. A visit to Kyaukhtatgyi provides a great introduction to Myanmar’s unique brand of Buddhism, with murals depicting the life of Buddha, the feet of the statue carved with traditional symbols and a great many locals gather here to pray.

Continue to a local tea shop for a chance to experience an integral part of Burmese life: drinking tea! Select from an array of snacks and enjoy a coffee or tea as while sitting amongst businessmen, friends and families who gather at the tea shop to socialize or conduct business.

Next, follow the guided tour to Kandawgyi Park, one of central Yangon’s greenest spots. Here, witness the glittering Karaweik Barge, a replica of the Royal Barge, and the vast lake with views of Shwedagon Pagoda in the background. Depending on the day, Kandawgyi may be busy with local families who come on the weekends to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

From here, continue to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the locals believe that the original structure was built 2500 years ago and was then renovated several times before taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99-meters tall, gilded with gold leaf, and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas. Follow the guide’s lead around the massive complex and learn why this temple is so revered among locals.

DAY 2 - YANGON - KAWTHAUNG (B)

Kawthaung Airport to Kawthaung is (9 km): 20 mins.

Kawthaung oon the Myanmar side (formally known as “Victoria Point”) is the southernmost point of Myanmar. The major entry point to Mergui Archipelago boasting over 800 tropical islands. Visit the local market to buy souvenirs, enjoy the Victoria Point, Pyidawaye Pagoda and around the Kawthaung city.

DAY 3 - SEA HOPPING (B, L, D)

Depart from Kawthaung 10:00 AM, stop at Taung La Bo (Swimming), Poni Island (Snorkeling, Swimming), and 115 Island (Kayaking). Overnight at near 115 Island.

DAY 4 - ISLAND HOPPING (B, L, D)

115 Island to Lanpi Island (Mangrove Lagoon)(Kayaking), Island 60 (Tar Yar Kayaking, Swimming). Overnight at aroung Island 60.

DAY 5 - SEA HOPPING (B, L, D)

To Ko Phaw Island (Swimming, Kayaking), Salet Galet (Swimming). Overnight at around Salet Galet.

DAY 6 - SEA HOPPING (B, L, D)

Salet Galet to Shark Island (Snorkeling, Swimming), Pila Island (Snorkeling, Swimming). Overnight at around Pila Island.

DAY 7 - SEA HOPPING (B, L, D)

To Jalann Island (Visit to Local Moken Village), Bawei Island (Snorkeling, Swimming), Boulder Bay (Snorkeling, Swimming) and overnight at around Boulder Island.

DAY 8 - SEA HOPPING (B, L, D)

Boulder to South Bay (Swimming), Shar Island (Swimming, Kayaking) and overnight Stay around Shar Island.

DAY 9 - ISLAND HOPPING - KAWTHAUNG (B, L, D)

Shar Island to Kawthaung City and overnight at Kawthaung.

DAY 10 - Kawthaung - Yangon (B, L, D)

Depending on flight time, there is an option to take a ride on Yangon’s Circle Train in the morning.

This unique ride passes through the outskirts of town (20-30 minutes ride), and gives unique insight into the lively, colourful lifestyles of local people in Yangon’s rural areas.  Disembark at the Kyi Myin Daing Market and peruse various stalls and interact with friendly vendors before transferring back to Yangon.

In the afternoon, if time allows, visit Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, and browse through the wide selection of Burmese handicrafts and other goods before transferring to Yangon International Airport for the onward flight. (Note: Market is closed on Mondays and on public holidays)
